RELATIONSHIPS

Holding Hands

Healthy relationships are a critical component to our health and wellness. Take a moment and consider your relationships with others:

Do you feel understood?

Do you feel genuine and authentic?

Are you honest and open with your thoughts, feeling and behaviors?

Do others really see you for who you are and accept you?

Are you vulnerable with others?

Do you trust others?

As infants we are dependent on others for emotional engagement. A study in the mid 1900's showed that infants that did not receive emotional engagement from a care giver where approximately 34% more likely to experience infant mortality. Another more modern study showed that not having social relationships had the same impact as smoking 15 cigarette's a day.

Developing healthy relationships with others plays a critical role in our health and wellness. However, many of us struggle to feel that we can be open and honest and truly connected with others. Research shows that developing the skills and abilities to genuinely connect with others can add years and quality of years to our lives. Come and learn to really connect with others.

Couples Therapy

Approximately 41% of marriages in the US end in divorce. Often times spouses feel that as they separate and move on to different relationships that things will change for the better. Divorce statistics for second marriages reveal that 60% end in divorce and that in third marriages 73% end in divorce. Changing unhealthy relational patterns lies at the heart of developing a healthy relationship with your partner.

Trauma

Developmental, attachment, acute, and complex trauma often sits at the heart of Anxiety, Depression, and a majority of the other mental health disorder diagnosis. Developing insight into past trauma and learning from it helps those suffering to move past it to a place where they can make sense of where they are, where they want to be, and how they can get to that place.

addiction

Addiction comes in many forms. Traditionally when addiction has been cited many think of alcohol and tobacco or other substances. As we have learned more about addiction research has revealed two basic categories of addiction - substance use addiction and process addiction.
